About SSA

For over 125 years, the Society of the Sacred Advent (SSA) has practised their praiseworthy belief that “one of the best gifts that we as a society can give young women for an empowered future that contributes to the common good is an education”. From small beginnings in 1882, SSA established more than ten schools, as well as other community serving organisations, with notable interest in the welfare of women and children.

To this day, SSA still owns and operates St Margaret’s and St Aidan’s schools in the greater Brisbane area. St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, situated high on a hill in Brisbane’s beautiful leafy suburb of Ascot, is an independent day and boarding school for girls from Pre-Prep to Year 12 with approximately 1145 students (185 of them boarders).

The school also welcomes boys in Pre-Prep and Prep. St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School is a Prep to Year 12 day school, with a co-educational Kindergarten. The school is located in Corinda, with a population of approximately 900 students. This reflects the school’s belief that students experience many benefits in a smaller school.
