Nelson Marlborough Health (NMH) is the principal funder and provider of health services in the Nelson, Tasman, and Marlborough regions, serving a population of approximately 160,000 people across a large and diverse geographical area. NMH operates hospitals including Nelson Hospital and Wairau Hospital, providing a wide range of services from surgical and maternity care to mental health services.

One of the big challenges for the health sector is the continued drive for efficiency, while delivering high quality patient care within the diverse environment of a Health Authority.

As part of the drive for efficiency and to enable a move to a digital hospital, NMH set an ambitious strategic goal in 2015 to be Paper-LIGHT by 2020 and Paperless by 2025 in the Transition from a Paper Based to a Digital Hospital.
